Club receives valuable legacy

In the will of our recently deceased member Peter Ellington-Robinson, his collection of automobilia was left to his three car clubs, the VSCC, the Alvis Register and the LFOC.  The sale of the material, which was mainly books, raised £12,000, so the Club will benefit to the tune of £3,800. In addition Mr Ellington-Robinson left a generous sum to pay for an award for the Lea-Francis driver having most success in VSCC hillclimbs.

TT Hyper now in Coventry Transport Museum

This car was one of a team of three Lea-Francis Hypers entered in the Ulster TT on 21 August 1928, and went on to win the race at an average speed of 64mph. The car was bequeathed to Coventry Transport Museum following the death of Tom Delaney in 2006. Tom, whose father was MD of Lea-Francis, raced the car himself many times: his last race was in 2006 at the age of 95. The car is displayed together with the Hyper which ran at Le Mans in 1929, winning the 1 1/2 litre class and finishing 8th overall.
